Repeat Prescriptions 

The Prescription Clerk office at our Practice is open from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and does not accept repeat prescriptions over the phone unless the patient is housebound. For repeat prescriptions, please drop your request into the prescription box outside the main entrance or send an email to oaklands.surgery@nhs.net. Include:

  • Your name
  • Date of birth
  • And the medications required

If you don’t have a request slip, simply write these details on a piece of paper.

Please allow 48 hours for repeat prescriptions to be processed and 5 working days for Controlled Drugs.

Weekends & bank holidays repeat prescription

Repeat prescriptions are not processed on weekends or bank holidays. If you submit your request before 3:30 pm, it will be ready for collection at the specified time on the following working day.

Ready for Collection

  • Monday After 6.30pm on Wednesday
  • Tuesday After 6.30pm on Thursday
  • Wednesday After 6.30pm on Friday
  • Thursday After 6.30pm on Monday
  • Friday After 6.30pm on Tuesday

NHS Prescription Charges

Our Practice is open for registration to anyone eligible for NHS care residing in the SS8 area. You can register by completing the necessary form in person at our Practice or by emailing us at oaklands.surgery@nhs.net. When registering, it’s ideal to have:

  • The current prescription charge: £9.90
  • A three monthly PPC: £31.25  and could save you money if you need more than three prescribed items in three months.
  • A 12-month certificate: £111.60  and could save you money if you need more than 12 prescribed items in a year 
Electronic Prescription Service

Oaklands Surgery now offers the Electronic Prescription Service, allowing you to nominate a pharmacy to receive your prescriptions directly from your GP electronically. This service enhances convenience by eliminating the need to pick up a paper prescription, ensures faster access to your medicines, and reduces the likelihood of lost prescriptions.

  • If you use the repeat prescription service from your GP, you won't need to visit the Practice to pick up a paper prescription, saving you time.
  • With the Electronic Prescription Service, you have the flexibility to choose where to collect your medications. Prescriptions can be sent directly to a pharmacy near your home, workplace, or along your usual shopping route, offering you convenience and saving you time.
  • With the Electronic Prescription Service, your repeat prescriptions can be prepared in advance, potentially reducing your waiting time when you arrive at the pharmacy.
