All GP Practices are required to declare the average pay for the GP’s working in the Practice delivering NHS Services to patients.

The average pay for GP’s working for Oaklands Surgery in the financial year ending April 2021 before tax and National Insurance was £78,000.

The Practice email address is monitored during opening hours and can sometimes be easier and faster than using the telephone.

New Data Protection Regulations from May 2018 (GDPR)

Under the new data protection regulations introduced from 25th May 2018, we will continue to contact patients via text messages regarding the delivery of care if they have provided consent to do so.

If practices are sending messages about recommended treatment for the management of a specific health issue, then this is defined as providing appropriate care for patients, not marketing purposes.

If you would like ot opt out of any future contact via text messaging, then please complete the form and indicate in the marked section.

Sick for less than 7 days

You do not require a doctor’s sickness certificate for any illness lasting seven days or less. Your employer may however require you to complete a self-certification form (SC2) which is available from your employer or on the HMRC website.

Sickness for more than 7 days

If you are sick for more than seven days, your employer can ask you to give them some form of medical evidence to support payment of SSP (statutory sick pay).

If you’re sick and off work for more than seven days, your employer will probably ask for proof of your illness. 

Medical certification is a legal document and your GP and/or Practice can only offer this if consultation allows.

Named Accountable GP

All patients registered at Oaklands have a named GP who is responsible for patients’ overall care at the practice.  

Patients aged 75 and over with a named GP will also benefit from the Practice working with relevant associated health and social care professionals to deliver a multi-disciplinary care package which meets the needs of the patient.

You can of course continue to see the GP of your choice.

Shingles Vaccine

A vaccine to prevent shingles, a common, painful skin disease is now available on the NHS to people in their 70s.

The shingles vaccine is given as a single injection for those of an eligible aged.  Unlike the flu jab, you’ll only need to have the vaccination once.

Patients will be contacted by the surgery in due course .

What is an NHS Health Check?

The NHS Health Check is your chance to get your free midlife MOT. For adults in England aged 40-74 without a pre-existing condition, it checks your circulatory and vascular health and what your risk of getting a disabling vascular disease is. 

Why should I get checked?

There are many upsides to having an NHS Health Check, at no cost to you. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing something dangerous like high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes. Your NHS Health Check can spot early signs and help prevent these happening to you, which means you’ll be more likely to enjoy life for longer.

How do I get an NHS Health Check?

If you’re in the 40-74 age group without a pre-existing condition, you can expect to receive a letter inviting you for a free NHS Health Check. Don’t worry if you haven’t got your invitation yet, as you will be invited for one over the next few years.
