Repeat Prescriptions 

The prescription clerk office is only be open from 11am till 1pm and will not take repeat prescriptions over the phone unless the patient is housebound

•       Repeat Prescriptions can be put into the prescription box outside the main  
•       Repeat Prescriptions can be obtained by ticking the items required as shown on the last prescription slip received.  If you do not have requests slips please complete on a piece of paper your name, D.O.B and what you are requesting.
•       Send an email to oaklands.surgery@nhs.net with your name, D.O.B and list of medication. 

Repeat Prescriptions are not produced over the weekend or on Bank Holidays.  Please see below:

Please allow 48 hours for repeat prescriptions to be processed and 5 working days for Controlled Drugs

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines.  Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

NHS Prescription Charges from April 2020

• The current prescription charge is £9.65
• A three monthly PPC is £31.25 and could save you money if you need more than three prescribed items in three months.
• A 12-month certificate is £111.60 and could save you money if you need more than 12 prescribed items in a year

The Prescription Office will only be open from

11am to - 1.00pm

Monday - Friday

If you have an urgent prescription query outside of these hours then please speak to a Receptionist

Repeat Prescription request cannot be taken over the telephone unless you are recorded as housebound.

Prescribing Over the Counter Medicines is Changing

Oaklands Surgery is now offering the Electronic Prescription Service, which allows patients to choose or 'nominate' a pharmacy to get your medicines or appliances from.  Your GP then sends your prescription electronically to the place you nominated.  This means:

• If you collect your repeat prescriptions from your GP you will not have to visit your GP practice to pick up your paper prescription, saving time
• You will have more choice about where to get your medicines from because they can be collected from a pharmacy near to where you live, work or shop
• You may not have to wait as long as your repeat prescriptions could be prepared before you arrive
